As a Diploma of Events Online student you will gain the knowledge through the theory presented online and from participating in a Live Event Project in a management role, demonstrating skills and knowledge to equip you for the event industry. Course Entry Requirements

It is highly recommended that students are currently working in the event industry or possess related vocational experience in events and have completed a Cert III in Events. Students must have access to a workplace where they are able to volunteer at events and eventually manage and organise an event, in accordance to the assessment requirements for this qualification.

Timetable

This program is delivered online and also offers optional teacher support via the phone.  Please refer to the timetable attached below in the Relevant documents section for more information.

Cluster One of the Diploma of Events Online
Theory Study - Minimum of eight (8) hours of study per week plus assessments
Practical Component - Participate in a minimum of three (3) live industry events for practical observation.
Total Student Commitment- A minimum of 20 hours per week

Cluster Two of the Diploma of Events Online
Theory Study - Minimum of eight (8) hours of study per week, plus assessments.
Practical Component – Commitment to a Live Event Project, as outlined above in general information.
Total Student Commitment –A minimum of 18 hours per week

Placement

To meet the practical components of this program, students must:

 Cluster One of program:  Organise attendance and participation in at least three (3) live events. 

Cluster Two of program:  Be in a role where you are planning and organising the event as a project, co-ordinating and carrying out operational duties, through to the evaluation of the event.  A role such as Volunteer Manager is appropriate,  you do not have to run the whole project for the event, just a component.  It is recommended that you spend one full day or eight (8) hours in an event office each week in the second semester, working on the Live Event project, as well as additional time out of the office.

VET Student Loans

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Prior to applying for a VET Student Loan, please ensure that you have read and understood the VET Student Loans Pre-Enrolment Information

VET Student Loans are an interest-free loan from the Australian Government that help students pay for their education and training.

TAFE Queensland receives the full loan amount for your course directly from the Government, and you repay your loan through the Australian taxation system once your income reaches a certain threshold.

You are eligible for a VET Student Loan if you:

You must demonstrate academic suitability by:

  • providing a copy of your Senior Secondary Certificate of Education (year 12 certificate); OR
  • providing evidence of successful completion of an Australian Qualifications Framework certificate IV or higher qualification (where the language of instruction is English), OR
  • are assessed as a minimum of Exit Level 3 in the Australian Core Skills Framework (ASCF) in both reading and numeracy

Please note that all students enrolling in an accredited course are required to provide a Unique Student Identifier (USI).

Payment Plan

If you have difficulty paying the full cost of a course up front, or you are not eligible for VET Student Loan, you might be eligible for a payment plan. This will allow you to pay for your course in instalments, rather than one upfront payment at the time of enrolment.

Note: If you are accessing a VET Student Loan, and there is a difference between the loan cap amount and the total cost of your course (for example your loan cap amount is $10,000 and your course costs $11,000 - there is a $1,000 difference), you are required to pay the difference.

Subsidised

The Queensland Government will offset the cost of study for eligible students. You will still need to pay for a portion of your study costs. The amount above is what you will need to pay.

Higher Level Skills Subsidy

The Higher Level Skills Subsidy is a one-off subsidy funded by the Queensland Government that offsets the cost of an eligible Certificate IV or higher courses.

You're eligible for the Higher Level Skills Subsidy if you:

  • are 15 years or older and no longer in school
  • live in Queensland full time
  • are an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident, or temporary resident with the necessary visa or work permits
  • and don't currently have (or are enrolled in) a certificate IV or higher level qualification.
  • Other restrictions or eligibility criteria may apply

Please note: As part of your enrolment into a Higher Level Skills program you will need to complete a student survey.

Orientation

An online Orientation and induction into the program will be completed once enrolled. The online orientation takes approximately 45 minutes to an hour to complete.
